Time for new shocks!

I've searched all there is to search on here and I'm going to go with Bilstein HDs or Rancho 5000's (or whatever ones are not adjustable and for non-lifted). Shockwarehouse.com has a good price, but being in Canada I'll get hit with big shipping/duty charges, or so I assume. Is there anywhere within Canada that sells shocks for good prices?

Not sure about the shipping but I recently threw some Rancho 5000's on mine and I love'em. Money well spent

What do you plan on using the shocks for (offroad, onroad, both)? What do you want out of the shocks (better handling, softer/firmer ride)?

edit: sorry I thought you were asking for opinions on shocks, I see your looking for a place in Canada to buy, I can't help with that, sorry.

Top Gun Customz has Bilsteins up for sale on ebay for an okay price. Has anyone dealt with them before? I've never heard of them.

I bought my 5100's from their site. No real problems. They didn't send me a tracking number until I asked, but they were shipped timely.

Are the Bilstein HDs (the ones I want) supposed to be yellow with the blue boot like they show in the pictures? I could have sworn they were shiny metal coloured with some light green on them, when I saw them in another picture somewhere else. I just want to make sure I get the right ones, and not a cheap knock-off.

The ones for trucks that aren't lifted are usually the traditional yellow/blue. Then the ones for lifted trucks or the 5100 series are the chrome/blue. I have heard pretty good thing about top gun too, should be fine with them or shockwarehouse. Bilstiens are the best too. Sucks about the shipping though. good luck

I've tried calling shockwarehouse.com a few times and no one ever picks up. I want to know what kind of discount us forum members get from them. Does anyone know if companies send you new bolts and hardware too when you buy new shocks from them?

Bought mine from topguncustomz also, didn't have a problem with them at all. They were very helpful and shipping was on time.........

The HD's are in fact the Yellow ones with Blue boots. I got the 5100's which are the shinny metal ones.....

Mine were sent with some new parts for installing the shocks, you re-use some of your factory parts too......

Yep, I just put my bilsteins I got off ebay this past Sunday, the front shocks were tough to get on my 97. Today is my first real day riding with them so I can't give much input on how they feel yet.

Kind of an odd comparison list you have there for shock choices...Trying to decide between the Bilsteins and the 5000's is kinda like saying "man...I don't know if I want this Honda Civic or this Aston Martin DBS???"

Even though there are some great comments about the 5000's on here, they're a nothing special, off the shelf, cookie cutter shock absorber. The Bilstein is a gas pressurized, mono-tube, valved for your truck, top end shock...especially for the price.

FYI...Bilstein HD's and 5100's are identical shock absorbers with two differences...the 5100's are silver and longer for lifted trucks. Other than that, the construction, internals, valving, components, everything is identical between the two. One is not better than the other.
