Procomp 4x4 Vibration?
Okay, I recently had a 6" Procomp lift installed on my 2008 F150 fx4 and it rides fine in 2wd. Earlier today i switched it to 4HI and there seemed to be some shaking on the front end at low speeds, I notice it past 40mph. I didn't try to go faster in fear that something horrible was wrong, so I went back to 2wd. Anywho, I know your not supposed to drive too fast in 4wd anyway, but this doesn't seem normal to be vibrating the way it does, even at such low speeds. I'm still on stock gears, the tires are balanced, so I'm assuming it has to do something with the suspension install. Like I said, it runs fine in 2wd, but seems to vibrate pretty noticeably in 4wd, I remember running 4HI for a little bit on pavement when I first got the truck, and don't remember anything like this. I remember someone else had a similar issue, but I cant find the posting. Please help, thanks.
^^^^^^^^ Go to Fabtech's Website and look at their 6" lift install instructions. It shows you how to have the front driveshaft re-clocked and then rebalanced. Just take your front driveshaft and these instructions to a driveline shop. Cost me like $60 for the complete thing and no more vibration for me!
I talked to Kevin, over at Fabtech and he says the re-clock isn't needed on every truck and thats why Pro-Comp leaves it out. He also says the balancing isn't needed every time, they simply reccommend it to cover their own *** and "be sure" . But told me to just re-clock then test drive it. Sure enough, mine was just fine and I think it cost me all of 5-10 minutes total removal and install time
