torsion bars

hey yall, i recently cranked my torsion bars to level out my 97, and i noticed that when i went to do it, one bolt was about halfway further in than the other, but there was only a little bit of difference in the height of either side. i was wondering if this was a bad thing or if i unloaded the torsion keys and make the bolts equal would make the ride equal. i cranked them fairly even and now the sides are about a quarter of an inch off.
also, i was planning on getting a rear add-a-leaf because i need more room for the tires, but i was wondering if i went to the junkyard and got a similar size leaf to add, would it work and give me a good inch and a half or would it just be ghetto. thanks.

p.s. now i just gotta to decide whether to do a body lift.

Your torsion bars arent always level. You crank both sides the equal number of turns!

Id recommend getting an aal... not a leaf from a junkyard. Dont ask why I just would.

Do The Body Lift!

That's the same aal I put on my 97'. Free shipping too. I'm very pleased with the height I gained from a T bar crank and AALs.

Im looking to buy this AAL as well to compensate for the "Fabtech squat".
Some members like the squatting @ss end look. I personally think it looks stupid on a truck considering the original design of a truck was to carry or tow a load and normally the truck sits level or slightly higher in the rear because it was designed as a work horse. How much lift did this AAL give you?

It is as simple as it seems. Look at your torsion bars, follow them all the way back and there should be a bolt for adjustment. Tighten that (sometimes helps to get the truck off the ground and use a breaker bar).

Make sure you measure how much lift it gives you per side and a good rule of thumb is to just keep the # of turns even on each side.

As far as one bolt being out farther than normal, that is fine, and is also like that on the rangers.

If anyone needs an add a leaf let me know and I can get it for you.

Alon

Get a body lift. You'll love it. Pics of the install process in my gallery.
