Autospring quality?

Hey Fellas, I just received my 2" autospring leveling kit, ordered from ebay, for my 2008 5.4, 4x4. This is my first experience with these types of products in general, but the appearance of the parts I received leads me to question the quality of craftsmanship. First, each one measures out at exactly 1 & 11/16". Maybe this is ignorance on my part, but I don't see how 1 & 11/16" will yield a 2" gain when installed? The three 1/4" supports that are welded between the top and bottom rings are welded in at an angle, but the photos of these kits on the autospring website show them straight up and down (maybe the photo on the web is of the 2.5???). Also, the top and bottom rings are not exactly alligned; there is some offset in the center. For those of you who have purchased these kits, did you notice anything similar?

Maybe these things are perfectly fine and I should just throw them on the truck, but I'd hate to install an inferior product. By the way...I took pics, but can't for the life of me figure out how to post them. The posting rules say "You may not post attachments" (newbie rule?). I tried to create a photo gallery to post them in, but get an exception error when logging in to the gallery. If I figure it out I'll post them.

Thanks for your help.

No worries... your kit is exactly like mine and all Autospring leveling kits that I have seen. Mine is also offset, and the first one I put on my truck I emailed Autospring about this. They are supposed to be manufactured that way, along with the angled pieces welded in the middle. They are a quality product, and there are scores of guys running them with good results on this board and many others.

The kit is angled so that your coilsprings don't hit your control arms at full suspension droop and create a weird clunking noise.

Put it in and measure. You won't be disappointed.

Not to scare you, but I had to take mine off. At less than full droop, my arms were hitting the springs. Don't know why, but it bothered me, so I removed the kit. My truck is kind of a freak though I think. I fit tires that I shouldn't have been able to with the kit, and they still fit without it.

Thank yall, that's what I was hoping to hear.

By the way, I just called my local 4 Wheel Parts store to price their wheel alignment. The price they quoted me is fair, but this guy is telling me I will also need to purchase two (one for each side @ $90.00 ea.) lower eccentric bolts for them to do the alignment. He claims this is a requirement only for Ford trucks that have been lifted, regardless of the lift type or size, as Ford does not included them during manufacturing. Ever heard this story? I've yet to read this on any of the posts about the AS kits.

He's trying to screw you. You don't need anything except an alignment machine. I went to NTB and paid 130$ for 3yrs worth of unlimited alignments. Comes in handy when you change your mind about what you really want...

With an autospring kit is it true that it is not good to use 4 wheel drive very much? i use it pretty often and don't want anything to break if i use 4x4 as often as i do. am i stupid for believing this?

I just installed my AS 2.5" kit this past weekend. It works great. I love the look it gives you. Using your four wheel drive shouldn't be any different than before. And you shoudl be able to get an alignment done for about $60-$70 anywhere. It shouldnt take longer than about 30-45 minutes.

That's what I thought. Thank you all for your input and tips.
