AAL vs. 3" rear block

Can some one convince me one way or the other? I ordered my 2.5" AS leveling kit but I am trying to figure out which way to go with the rear end.

i am also doin the same setup possibly.. from what i understand the aal will make the ride alot stiffer in the rear... the 3 " block will basically just lift everything up and keep the factory ride quality..

If you do any hauling or towing go with the add a leaf, if it's just a city driver then blocks will be fine as long as you don't double stack.

^^ agree

AAL does stiffen up the rear. depending on how tall you go, people say they don't even notice it, where others say they can't stand it, so it really comes down to personal opinion.

Towing/Hauling = AAL will help keep the rear from "squatting" .

Block= Will give your factory *like ride.

I went with the 3" block on my truck. My buddy has a 1.5" AAL and his truck does seem to ride stiffer. I don't do any hauling so I don't need the extra capacity of an AAL.

My truck rides like stock with the 3" block.

The 04's sat so high in the rear from the factory my 2 1/2" kit still leaves the rear a little higher. Just about perfect for me!

ok so your saying that on the 04 models the front end sits lower than on the the 05-07 models?? because mine is a 04.. maybe i should look for a 2 1/2" block.

It is really more that the rear end sits higher than the front end sits lower. The 04-05 trucks tend to sit level with a 2.5 inch leveling kit while the 06-08 trucks sit more level with a 2 inch kit.

When I do mine I am going with the AAL. I just dont like blocks in general.

I did the AS AAL in the rear and I can not tell a difference in the ride quality. The whole truck still rides great.

I tow and haul quite a bit, so the AAL was the way to go for me.

so is it that the factory rear block is larger on the early models.. if so .. im going to be replacing it anyway with a 3" so it should be the same as a 06-07 right??

or i can just go indebt and buy a 4" Rancho

I went w/ the Superlift and didn't notice a difference. They were supposed to give 1.5"-2" lift and right now, after the 2.5" AS, my rear wheel well is 1" above the front. Plus when I do load it I won't be sagging as much.

Also, I don't know that the different years really matter. Some trucks will be level w/ a 2.5" in front with nothing in the back and others wont. Just depends on a lot of variables. But that's my guess and I've been wrong almost 4 times now!
