Rear leafs

Is it possible to put rear leafs from a 2001 f-250 on a 1997 f-150??? When hooked up with my 5900lb. trailer it drops 2 1/2 in. with a weight dist. hitch. I have looked into add-a-leafs by superlift they seem like they would work and looked into airbags but they are too much. Also are the 250 curved more for a little lift....

Ya, you *could* do it.

How are your fabbing skills ? You will have to cut the rear spring hangers (front part) and probably move them forward. You will probably have to custom make your own spring hanger so they fit around the bigger 250 leafs. You may need to custom up a "pivoting" rear shackle, that would allow for the longer leafs but keep the axle in its normal position. Next, you would need to take the axle housing, gut it so it is hollow, and torch off the normal spring perches, make some custom ones that (again) are big enough for the leaf springs. Your going to need different U-bolts and plates as well.

MUCH easier to get an AAL tho. Let me know if you actually do want to do all that fabbing, I'll try and help.

(*** the 250 leafs will give you some lift, will also make the truck ride like crap IMO. Will really stiffen it up)

Just buy an add a leaf because the F150 vs F250 springs are completely different in length, center bolt location and width. F250 also has a 3000lb spring capacity per side while the F150 has 1180 - 1415 so the ride would be horrible.

Thanks

WOW, you all know your SH*t... Well thanks for all the info, but I was was mislead they were not a set of leafs but Hellwig load pro helpers. They were for a F-250/350 rated at 3500lbs. With that said they fit like a glove and got an well added 1 7/8 lift and only 1 1/2 drop with both trailer and dogs in rear... The truck rides just like before,,,Well thanks again.......
