Lifting a LIMITED
Lifting a LIMITED
Hello all, new guy here.
Cross post from the HD forum , hope that is all right.
Posting this question in the HD forum as I have heard the new pearl white "Limited" is quite similar to the Harley edition F150s. The AWD transfer case being the most important for my lift dilemma.
I have a new Limited on the way as my new company truck. (pipeline construction) Previously did a quick search for a small lift/ levelling kit for the new F150s and saw that a 2 and 2 1/2 inch spacers existed.
Stopped by a 4x4 accessory shop today and they said i shouldn't use a lift in a new Ford with the AWD transfer case. It would cause a vibration and possible damage they said.
So, does anyone have any actual experience / knowledge of doing a 2" lift with an AWD F150?? or a link to more information.
I thought that an extra two inches of lift, and maybe about an extra inch or two of extra tire would give me enough clearance to overcome some of the terrain and conditions the truck will have to go through on the rare occasion.
I hope there is a solution that won't cause any damage to the drivetrain.
Any help much appreciated.
TIA,
max

A leveling kit won't change the driveshaft angles. The only change will be the cv angles from the differential out to the wheels themselves. So I dont see how that would cause any vibration at all. You should be good to go!
I would stick with the 2" leveling kit, the 2.5" kit puts a pretty good angle on the front cv shafts plus the 2.5" will make the rear a little bit lower than the front. Plus if you ever tow anything, the 2.5" kit looks pretty funny with the front end sticking way up in the air with the rear squatted down a bit.
