rancho shocks

whats the big difference between the rancho 5000 and 9000 shocks. are the 9000s any better

The big difference is that you can adjust the stiffness on the 9000s to better match the terrain you're on. Unless you plan on getting under your truck to adjust them, just go with the 5000s. I don't know if they have them for trucks, but Rancho used to make an in-cab adjuster for the 9000s in Jeeps and people seemed to like it. It was pretty expensive though...

There is no comparison between those two shocks...completely different! And mainly for the adjustability reasons listed. Yes, you can get a universal in-cab control pannel to adjust these shocks on the fly. The 5000 is Rancho's run of the mill, no frills, shock. You don't even need to "use" the adjustability all the time to make the 9000 a better choice. Look at it this way...even if you find a setting you like and never touch them again, you still have a shock that you can fine tune to your specific liking. That's gotta be worth something.

Does anyone know how to adjust the 9000's? Seems like it would be difficult with a front coil-over suspension.
