I just got a new 4x4 supercab STX last week, and am putting together my wish list. I plan on putting a 6" lift on it and 35's, but I need to know if I should regear. The truck has 3.55's, no limited slip. It will be on the road 90% of its life, and I want to make sure I am not doing something wrong. I plan on getting a programmer for the 4.6, to help it out a little. Please advise.

 

Ull be fine without regearing but, it would be worth it to regear

 

if you don't plan on towing it should be fine but i would throw some 4.56's in there if it were me.

 

i would gear it no matter what your going to use it for. the 4.6 is lacking in the hp department. the truck will be a lot more enjoyable to drive if its geared

If I switch to 4.56's, with 35's will my gas mileage suffer too much? Right now, I am getting about 14mpg combined 50/50 city-highway driving on stock tires, no lift.
