Strange feelings through steering wheel

My truck's got 75,000km on it and I just had the front lower ball joints replaced by the dealership, and asked them to do a front end inspection. The only thing they mentioned were the ball joints which I okay'd them to replace. Something feels loose in the front end through the steering wheel. There is no play in the steering, but when I accelerate with the wheels turned, or go over bumps with the wheels turned, I feel bumps and creaks and stuff like that through the steering wheel. What could it be? And how could the mechanics miss something wrong on a front end inspection?
