Ive been looking for solid answers and reviews from those who have changed from 2" spacer kit to the 5100 shocks for the front....

i have a reasonable amount of bumpsteer that i can feel in the steering and lateral movement in the truck that i am fed up with...

ive been reading and researching and these have me on to something ... i just want to be overly convinced that this will help ...

any feedback is greatly appreciated from this old post

How is your alignment, ball joints, tie rod ends, etc?

Alignment done as well? Tires wearing evenly too? All of these can cause the bumpsteer also.

In the green for them trying to do it like a stock truck or for it being leveled? And tires?

i dont know but the truck drives straight on flat ground... just when it hits bumps in the road it follows them in or out of em causing what i assume is bump steer

I'd have the alignment checked and see if the tires have abnormal wear. Both of those things can be bad and the truck will drive straight but can have some pretty nasty bump steer. If you feel like rotating your tires I'd try that, that can rule out the tires being the cause.

well i honestly dont think that this is the issue in my case... ive done my share of looking this problem up and ive come to several conclusions on what it could be...

-play in the steering rack
-play in the steering column (knock can be felt shaking the wheel back and forth with the key out of ignition)
-the need to remove the leveling kit (and go with bilstiens or the ranchos to maintain that lift but protect those front end components front over extension)

but i cannot for the life of me find a solid answer on multiple forums, multiple threads, and several different similar issues.

The closest thing that i have come to finding that fixes the issue is upgrading to the bilstien 5100 leveling shock. I'd say maybe TWO memebers mentioned this corrected their bump steer but on other accounts said it didn't.

I just dont know where to begin ..... kinda stressful

There's another cause that isn't the level. While it may help make the problem more noticeable, it isn't the route source. I'd definitely get that steering rack play checked out.

i should record the sound i hear when parked cause that definately cannot be right... its loose and making a knocking sound????

just sounds wrong to me and this could also translate to bump steer since i need to countersteer to keep going straight ..

Yup it would, slack in the steering is never good.
