3" body lift question.
3" body lift question.
Im looking at getting a 3" body lift for my 04 4x4, and I was wondering if these are very difficult to install?
I also have a couple questions if u could help me.
- Do you need a steering colum extension?
- Do you have to add any wires.. or does the stock wiring have enough play to deal with the height? or is that not affected at all?
- is there any special tools needed for this?
-is it easy enought to do myself in my garage?
thanks for the help.

As far as the do it yourself goes, there r a few guys on here Wandell, Nooq these guys have crazy knowledge in this area. There are a few previous threads on here with loads of BL do it yourself info. Steering extensions should be complete with the kit you bought( I know PA comes with). Good luck, can't wait to see the finished product.
I've installed 2 of them, one on a 2000 Scab 4x4 and the other on my 03 Screw. There's pics of the install process with captions and descriptions in my gallery.
From what I know and have heard, the 04+s are more difficult than the 97-03s. I am not sure what aspects of it are more difficult, but if you are somewhat mechanically inclined, you could do it in your driveway with regular tools.
The best (and now only kit I believe) is Performance Accessories. They copme with everything you need. You will need to extend the steering column, but the kit addresses or should address everything. It is recomended to spray all the body bolts down a week before you start the install with PB Blast. This will help them break loose. Other than that, again regular tools are all that is necessary, but air tools will help make the job easier.

Well i just did mine last weekend.Overall it wasnt that bad to do.Performance accessories has a great kit ,they have everything figured out, only thing missing for me was the bracket for the trans linkage but i made one up.the steering column extension is in the kit you dont have to add any wires. As far as special tools youll need torx tips for the bed bolts .Mine wouldnt move at all i cut the heads off ,they come with new bolts anyway.Go on perfromance accessories website and look up the instructions for the 70063 kit itll show you what you need and how to do it.
Heres my pics.

Have my 3" lift at the shop now. Studying instructions for the lift (Performance Accessories), and they are very descriptive. Boss just did 3" body lift on is Dodge
and was fairly straight forward...although took quite a while for our installer. Let us know how you do...need to know myself. Good luck!
