New shocks for 3" Skyjacker lift
New shocks for 3" Skyjacker lift
I have an 05 4x2 screw and I had the 3" skyjacker lift installed. Its basically new coilovers with crappy shocks. Both my shocks are pretty much useless as they are both leaking fluid and pretty much dead. Which shocks would be the best to replace them with? Obviously I would like to put the factory shocks on for the old ride but I can't do that with the lift right?
That's one of the main reasons I pulled the 3" SJ out of my 05 FX4. If you bought the kit new, I thought they would replace them under warranty. I bought mine used, and bought my replacement shocks from summitracing.com. They were about $100. One leaked again on me, then I went with the 2.5" Autospring. I heard that Skyjacker "updated" the shocks due to the large amount of people having leaking issues. I can only say that is rumor at this point, I have only read that on forums.
To answer your question: You can only use the Skyjacker exact replacements with the SJ coil-overs. So either buy replacements or yank them for something completely different.

Most people get 2.5 inches of lift out of the 2.5 inch kits. The more the truck is lifted the worse the ball joint angles.

Ok Wandell here is my question for you; Will my 325x60x18 Nitto Terra Grappler tires fit on my 05 4x2 screw if I took off the 3" Skyjacker completely and went back to my original shocks with a 2.5" Autospring?

I had the 3" Skyjacker, it lifted my front end exactly 3" on my 2005 FX4. After I took it out, I replaced it with the 2.5" A.S. and the front end went higher 1/10th of an inch. So, no the angles will be the same. I still don't recommend the Skyjacker though. Pics of both on the same truck are in my gallery.
