suspension lift install
suspension lift install
guys, i am pretty much educated on the basics of cars and trucks. but, can you give me any tips or suggestions on installing my pro comp 6" lift on my 06 f150 2wd supercrew? i would just hate to get started and find out i need extenders of brake lines, gas lines or anything else. does the pro comp kit come with everything needed to complete the install? i thought i would have access to a lift at my cousin's shop but may not now. so, if i use a floor jack and jackstands, am i looking at a saturday full of cussing? any tips appreciated! o yeah, i didn't get the AAL, do i absolutely need it?
I installed my lift by myself on jack stands in my garage with only hand tools so it can be done.
I would HIGHLY suggest another person help you. It will make things go much quicker and easier (handing you tools, lifting the front diff., etc).
My kit came with extended brake lines so if yours does, I'd pick up a bottle of brake fluid (you will spill some) and one of those one-man brake bleeding kits from any auto parts store.
If you don't have one, you'll need to buy or rent (Autozone) a torque wrench and get some thread lock. Just make sure you go over all the instructions before you install it - they should have a list of tools/things needed to get the job done. Most important is an extra set of hands and good, strong jack stands for safety.
EDIT: I see you have a 2wd...the install should be much easier than a 4wd since you don't have to mess with the front differential.

I have a 06 2wd and i installed my lift myself with my neighbor and it was really easy just time consuming lol (he also had air tools which helped quite a bit) the only thing that i needed was the driver side hard brake line because mine was not long enough at all but that could be because i had the 2.5 AS on top of the lift
