04 F150

I am going to be buying a 2004 F150 4x4 extended cab soon. I plan on going with a 2.5in AS leveling kit with 1in rear blocks. I am going to put 35x12.5x17 BFG Mud Terrain KM2's and mount them on 17x9 Eagle alloy 1864 series rims. They are 4 5/8in backspace and wondering if they will work with the KM2's without any rubbing.

You are gonna have to lift it higher or stick with a 33 inch tire.

Yeah but alot of the guys on this site with 04 or newer F150's have the 2.5in AS leveling kit with 35x12.5x17 and haven't had any problems with them.

They are definately going to rub somewhere, and will probably rub both the fender and frame. Better make sure it'll be driveable before spending the $$. I'd go with a 33'' tire to be safe.

they either do what i did and get a skinny aftermarket wheel like 17x8 for example or use stock wheels check my sig for pics of my 07 F150 4x4 with 2" skyjacker leveling kit with 315/70/17 Pro Comp Xtreme M/T's on 17x8 Eagle Alloy 114 series wheels

Ya it can be done with slight rubbing if you keep stock wheels or get aftermarket that are the same specs

I had my 315's on 17x9 wheels w/5 inches of BS and they rubbed on the lower wheelwells. Put them on some 17x8" wheels w/ 5 1/2 inches of BS and have a lot more clearance with no rubbing. The trick is keeping the tires tucked more inside the wheelwell's. The sides of your truck will thank you as well!!

Yep, most people running 35's with only a leveling kit are using the oem wheels. Wheel width and backspacing are as important to fitment as tire size.

But will the 35x12.50 KM2's fit on the 17x8 wheel because BFG recommends at least an 8.5in wide rim.

Rims

Would it be possible to get away with a American Racing 17x8 rim with only 4 1/2in backspacing? Would the 35x12.5 KM2's fit on those without a problem?

I would think you would need at least around 5" of backspacing and the tires will fit on an 8" rim. the stock rims are 7.5" and many people on here run 35x12.50 with no problems, me included.

I think the stock wheels have 5.5" of BS so I would stick as close to that as possible.

I agree. You will need a wheel almost identical to the oem wheels.

Well I have looked around and the rim that I am looking at is an Eagle Alloy 1879 that is a 17x9 with 5in of backspacing. Do you think that would be able to run or am i forced into a 17x8 with about the same backspacing?
