Hey guys help me out with some 4x4 issues. Short verson. All of a sudden it wouldnt engage. Light would come on the dash but nothing happened. Took it to a shop they checked the vacume solonoids, actuator, transfer case motor, all good. Came up with the conclusion that the "little metal rod" was stuck so they lubed it up and it worked for a few days. Shift on the fly doesnt work though. Now when I flip the switch it clicks 5 times and then tries to engage. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt. Sometimes it makes the huge CLUNK and then engages. My mechanic is now testing the GEM however i fail to see how the GEM could be the problem when everything else works fine and the 4x4 does engage sporatically. Anyone have any ideas? I live in the snow belt and my truck is worthless wout 4x4. My mechainc seems to be guessing which doesnt make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

my guess is going to be the shift fork seems to be a problem as of late
