Question Rear blocks or AAL?

Ok I'm sure there is an answer somewhere but I got tired after page 35! I just installed an AS 2.5 in order to clear 20 inch XD Rockstars on 33 inch tires, my problem is that the a@# of the truck sits a bit low and I like the nose down look. I had read somewhere that you should not add blocks on top of blocks, my question is should I remove the factory block and go with a fabtech 4.5 block or go with AAL to get that nose down look? I will be towing a boat at times. Thank you

I will be getting an aal because of this exact reason. I will be towing a trailer and sometimes have my motorbike in the back with it, so I figured if i am going to lift it I might as well get the added weight capacity to go with it.

But will the AAL lift the rear enough to get that nose down look? As it sits now the rear is about an inch or so lower than the front.

I don't know if the aal will raise the rear end up to give it the stock look (but with added height) like you want. I just want it level and a bit higher. Just a thought, but could you do an aal and a block? I don't know if that would work...but if you are doing that much work maybe just a lift kit. There has to be some sort of combination you can do to get it like you want.

Jaderbutt has the look I'm after...2" AS and an AAL

Go with the AAL as it will actually do something, rather than being a "looks only" mod.

Here are my stock and after install of 2.5 AS and 1.5" AS AAL measurements (with stock wheels/tires). As you can see, I am about 1" higher in the rear with this combo.

At least with the Skyjacker AAL's that I have installed (3 sets on 3 05-07 F-150's) they have all netted 2" of rear lift. The rides barely feel stiffer than stock. I would go with the AAL.

A 4" replacement block would do the trick and it would be an easy DIY. You'd end up with about a 1.5" rake. No change to the ride, and it doesn't sound like you're too concerned with extra-heavy loads, so...

I was hesitant, but went with a block cause it was cheaper. I tow often and was nervous about wheel hop so I installed traction bars... so in the end it may have been cheaper to go with an aal. I have over 30K running my lift and I haven't had any issues with the blocks, I like the way my truck sits.

According to UPS, my AS AAL is "out for delivery"!!!!!

It will go on Sunday afternoon.

I have the AS 2.5 kit in the front.

Got the AAL put on yesterday afternoon.

Probably took a hour and a half total time, but it seemed like most of that was just getting all of the right size sockets and wrenches once it was jacked up.

Very easy install!!!!!!

Now I need to snap some pics, but it started raining and has poured all day today too.

Canuck motorsports makes a shackle that is shorter and will give 1 1/2 inch lift.Cost is 93.00 shipped . Would be an easy install and keep good ride quality. Look under suspension on ebay for site. Here is item # 18021572543 Boyd
