IFS question
4-link set-up can not haul as much as a leaf spring set-up. Wont feel as sturdy.
Now, thats not to say a properly mde 4-link coilover set-up wouldn't haul what your asking for. Just in general, they are not the ideal hauling/towing set-up.

hey i called up rize they will not do that 4 link for our trucks they said it was a one off systemand they wouldnt even consider doing it for me....and another question is whats the benefit of going to an all leaf suspension in the rear with no block as opposed to the stock leaf and a block because deaver onliy makes a 6 in leaf spring kit..
Pretty surprised about the Rize situation. Thats pretty lame, sorry bud.
Block vs. spring:
Lift blocks are probably the least expensive lift option (again in a spring over axle setup). However, there can be hidden costs with lift bolts, like a new set of u-bolts. Also lift blocks can also lead to increased axle wrap/wheel hop under hard acceleration. Consider a lift block as a "passive" form of lift. You get the added height but no increase in wheel travel or load capacity on the lifted axle. If you are otherwise happy with the current springs and just need a little more height to level a vehicle, then a block is a good option
Lift springs are of course the best option in terms of performance, but likely the most expensive option as well. There are a wide variety of off-the-shelf lift spring options as well as a wide variety of custom spring mfgs. to consider. With custom springs, best to get your vehicle weighed (each axle separately) and then provide that weight as well as the lift and load requirements to the spring mfg. in order to get exactly what you need.
So which option is best for you? Depends on your needs and your budget.

ya rize disappointed me...i figured if i acted as interested as i did they would have at least given me a quote on it or something...it couldnt cost more than 3k to do that imo. but anyways deaver quoted me 750 for the 6 in springs does that sound about right
I am sure you could find a local 4x4 shop that would be willing to install your springs, but that will cost more money in the end.
As far as price being right? Really, I am not sure. You could try making another post about it on here. I know there are guys on this site running custom leafs... but I am not one of them.

custom leafs aint cheap. pohl springs in spokane (i think i spellt it wrong!) wanted 700 for the leafs i wanted. i caught a set from alcan on their shelf that someone had built but never paid for. $400
i am reconsidering my whole rear end layout. i dont haul very often but when i do, its about 3k payload. sometimes 6k towed, so far those have been seperate. now with this nasty motor going in i might try and haul my camper, my bikes and my trail rig lol. i'd love a 4link in my f150 but i dont know if it'd handle that.

I figured leafs would be in the $500+ range easily. Good to know.
As long as you knew the loads you would be working with, I'd think you would have no problem fabbing up some sort of multi link system for the truck. And whats your trail rig ? ?
gonna be a nasty lil ranger that i dont care about body dmg!

cant hurt it anymore but i have to build a cage and finish up the TTB heim joints. swap the 8.8 in the rear after i lincoln lock it.
its got a 4.0 and gonna ride on 36" military oz mudders.

one fore note on the dual shock hoop.. you can do like coil overs with a bypass. that is a dual shock set up. and you could probably but 2 normal shocks there if you want you just need the overall length and the colapse length to buy them.
also you can get a larger diameter shock and accomplish the same effect as a dual set up.
there are alot of companies that will four link if that is what you want.. companies like rize and fab tec are all about bolt on lifts you need a custom fabrication shop or such
