Torsion keys, why are they a bad thing?

Torsion keys, why are they a bad thing?

I have heard a few poeple say that torsion keys are a bad idea. Can someone explain why?

Because they crank the bars too far. This puts the suspension at close to the fully extended position, thus almost eliminating your suspension travel as well as riding around on this overly increased angle on the ball joints and axles. Plus, you can get your truck level with the stock ones. Most people don't preferr to go much further than that.

x2 on all of these points! reindexed torsion keys are made to give you 3"+ but with torsion bars you never want to go that high. your CV's and ball joints will fail tremendously fast.

now if you get torsion keys and only crank them alittle then you would be fine but why spend 100+ for something you can do for free?

just crank your stock torsion bars up to level not much more than that... then go get an alignment.

Exactly. Also, I can't believe these companies have the nerve to claim that their keys do not affect the ride quality.
