gap gaurds
the gap guards hide the gap between the body and the frame that the body lift creates but does not raise tow hooks or trailer hitch so have custom brackets made to raise those up 3" to sit with the body again and put some step bars on also and no one will ever know you have a body lift
They especially help on the front, if you hit heavy water at a good rate of speed, tires will angle the water flow directly into you engine bay and can cause electrical failure without the gap gaurds there (not always of course, but possible) and you may end up sucking water into your intake depending on where it's located. I know my buddy's 97' gmc would die on him everytime he hit water, until he put the gaurds on. He had to wipe out the points distributor everytime, then it would start backup after a few sprays of wd-40. My tacoma would suck water and would run like crap until I aired out the intake filter. I put the gap gaurds on and it never hapened again.
The Tow hitch is usually not effected. I haven't put a Body Lift on an Expo but have installed 2 on a 2000 SCab and on an 03 SCrew.
You won't be able to tow with your back bumper once you put the lift on, but can still tow with your tow package and hitch. On my 2003 before the lift, the rear bumper sat 3" lower and was snug against the tow package, with the lift there is just 3 more inches exposed. No big deal, it still looks good. I would imagine an Expo would look pretty similar. Here's a picture of what I'm talking about. Again, you shouldn't have to do anything with the tow package. The only thing I did was drill a hole in the top of the tow package when the rear bumper was off and mounted my trailer light assembly on the top instead of leaving it on the bottom. It cleans it up pretty good.
