Difference in suspension: FX4 vs Regular f150

Ok.. so i've been looking at a LOT of pictures of lifted trucks from this site.

I was wondering, why do the standard 4x4 f150's (with 6" suspension lift on 35" tires) look exactly like the Fx4 f150's (with 3" body lift on 35" tires)?

They appear to be the same height, and everything. Is that because, the fx4 suspension already gives the truck a height advantage over the regular 4x4 f150's?

I don't even know if you guys will understand what i'm trying to say because i'm having a hard time typing what i'm thinking... but hopefully.

Also, obviously the fx4 trucks are higher up than standard 4x4 f150's...so i guess that would mean "technically" they already come with a small suspension lift.

False. Your mind is playing games with you. All F150s of the same body style that are equipped with 4x4 have identical suspension height. FX4 means different shocks (same size though) and a skid plate.

My Lariat 4x4 is just as tall as any stock FX4.

Interesting... so the rancho shocks and a skid plate.

Werd. I don't know why i always thought they sit higher. I suppose it's because they come with bigger wheels maybe? I dunno.

I've parked my truck next to a 4x4 f150 same body style before, and the other truck sat lower than mine. I have NO idea why then, since that was the only way i could explain it in my head.......

I feel kinda silly now thinking they were actually higher. I mean, i guess they are because of the tires... but i totally thought it was suspension. :-/
