2007 FX2 Lowering Kit Question

Hey all, I want to lower my truck this summer and I don't want to spend a fortune while doing it, but I don't want my ride quality degraded in any way. I also DO NOT want a kit that flips the rear. I will use the bed occasionally so I need a kit that will keep the payload rating close to stock as well.

My question is, if I want a 2/4 drop, do I remove the supposid 1 inch block in the back or will that create a 2/5 drop with a 2/4 kit? I HATE when the back of trucks are lower than the front without a load in the bed.

I was going to go with groundforce, but they are a litle too pricey for me. How are belltech and eibach? I plan on using the stock shocks for now...

Belltech makes a 2/3 drop for our trucks, it uses 2" shorter springs in the front and dearched leafs in the back. removing your 1" block in the rear also will give you the 2/4 your looking for. Roush also makes a 2/3 drop just like the belltech, but it is a lot more pricey.

Will anything special need to be done to the rear end if the blocks are removed or will everything bolt up ok?

No, just loosen the u-bolts, jack up truck to get springs off axle, pull out blocks, lower truck back down making sure the pins on the leaf pack lines up into the holes on the spring perch on the axle, tighten the u-bolts, drink a beer.

You can't go wrong with Eibach. Check the street scene section, many guys down there use Eibach drop components, including me.

I don't have pics yet because my truck is salty and nasty again and I ashamed...lol...but I removed the 1" blocks from the rear of my '07 FX2 and installed the new U-bolts and it sits much better now. That 1" makes a noticeable difference in reducing the "rear-high" rake that the truck had before. I don't plan to lower my F150 but I can tell you that I did have a very good experience with my previous truck (an '03 Ranger) that I used all DJM lowered 2/3 suspension products on (except for Bell-Tech shocks).

Where is the 1" block that you talk about? What size U-bolts did you use?

Ted

FX2s have 1" or so lift blocks in between the rear axle and the spring. Taking that little amount out won't mess up the pinion angle. I used U-Bolts from the Ford dealer for an '07 2wd XLT since they come without the blocks.
