It will for sure not rub at all as long as you follow the wheel backspacing requirement.

Do you have the 3.73 LSD in the rear? If so re-gearing is not necessary, but a higher gear will not work your engine as hard.

I have 3.55 gears and 35x12.50-R17 mud terrains on a my 2006, with the 5.4L triton, and can honestly say that re-gearing will be in your/our best interests. Don't get me wrong, the truck is perfectly driveable how it is, but the power lost with the lift/tires is a lot. I am going to be getting either 4.56 or 4.88 gears in my truck. If you plan to tow, or lift the truck more with some 37s under it get the 4.88 gears, otherwise 4.56 is great.

A lot also depends on how you use your truck. If you tow/haul heavy loads on a regular basis, you will quickly want to regear. If you don't, you will be able to live with the 5.4 / 3.55 combo, I do.

there are a few gears between 3.73 and 4.56 which are: 3.90, 4.10, and 4.30

I have an 07 Supercrew 4x4 Lariat (5.4) with a Fabtech 6" lift, 20 inch wheels and Mickey Thompson Baja Claws (35X12.5X20) and very seldom do I get any rub at all. I think that for the year the truck has been lifted, It has rubbed twice. Both times it has been when I was at full steering lock and suspension engaged, ie. I Was driving over something which caused the tire to raise up into the tire well. On my truck, there are some spacers in the front, not the back.

I never changed my gears and I don't really see the need, personally. I like the versatility that if I ever want to remove the tires back to stock, that my gearing will not be out of wack. I suggest you do the lift / tires and drive it for a few weeks before you change the gears. If I were to do my truck all over again, I would have gone F250 Diesel, 8" Lift and 37's.

I've been really happy with the MT Claws too, having gone 10k miles with them so far. Browsing through these forums, really made the tire decision harder because there are just so many opinions. When I had the truck lifted at Maui Offroad in Honolulu, I saw all of their trucks with the MT Claws and took a liking to them.

I have 35" with 3.73 and the 5.4. You will be able to live with it, just remeber it will take time to get up to speed.

With what you said you were doing, I would suggest 4.10's unless you are planning on going to a bigger tire in the future. That is just my .02 cents dont hold me to it! Re-gearing is not cheap!
