Lifting

hey i have a 97 f150 4x4 and i have a tight budget because im going into uni and was wondering if doing a leveling kit, with a 3 inch lift block and a 3 inch body lift would look good and if there is any problems doing it that way. I want to lift the truck but i dont wanna spend over 1000 dollars cuz im on a tight budget any ideas or answers.

If you have a grand, I would get a 3" Performance Accessories BL ($200), install it yourself, crank your torsion bars to level it out, leveling kit or aftermarket Torsion keys aren't needed or recommended ($0), see what a good set of 33s or 35s would run you... You should be under $1000...

Buy you stuff in the US because your Canadian Dollars go just a little further over here! Not much, but any little bit helps on a tight budget!

NEVERMIND WHAT I JUST SAID... I JUST LOOKED AND THE US DOLLAR IS FINALLY ABOVE THE CANADIAN AGAIN. SORRY!!!

Nope, the only additional thing I would pick up would be a couple of t-47 Torx bits and the size up from that ($3-$5) a piece from any autoparts store. You'll need those to remove the bed bolts. Everything else is regular hand tools.

You may want to invest in Gap Guards ($60-$70) to hide the gap you'll have between the body and the frame. Or you can probably make some, other members have done that.

I would also PB blast all the body bolts a everyday for about a week before you lift it. It'll help them break loose. I put new shocks on, only cause I needed new shocks. But what yopu currently have can be used.

I have pics of the install process in my gallery also if you want to see what you're in for.

Thanks for the compliment...
