Lifting '04, Need a little advice
I am wanting to do a small lift on my 04. Nothing major, Was thinking a 3" level kit in the front and 2" blocks in the back. Will I need longer shocks in the back with the blocks.
Also someone told me add a leafs are the way to go. But I don't want a stiff ride.
Has anyone done the same setup with any tips on the best route to go.
Any help would be great. Thanks guys.

Not sure about the rear end, but 3" will put A LOT of stress on your cv angles and upper ball joint. I would only go with a 2.5" max IMO.
Assuming it is a 4x4, but since you said 2" blocks you may have a 2x4 in that case adding 1" in the rear you don't need to change your shocks. If you have a 4x4, a 3" block will be what you want to install to get 1" lift in the back.

its already said, 3" leveling kit = bad idea. It will destroy your front suspension. 2" blocks in the back ? assuming you are 4x4 you already have a factory 1.5" lift block. Fabtech makes a nice 3" which would replace the factory lift blocks, giving you 1.5" of lift in the rear but you dont need it. Only lift the rear if you like that super raked look. Then go with an Autospring 2" or 2.5" leveling kit up front, some minor trimming and factory spec wheels and you can fit 35" tires (again, you must be 4x4, 4x2 max tire size with this combo is 33" tires on stock wheel specs)

if you're going to lift your truck, do it right with a proper drop of the front differential. for a small lift get the 4" rancho.

For the right amount of $$$ I think Fabtech is your best bet. Best lift in general ? I would say CST and then RIZE. I am sure there are some better lifts out there, those are the two "Big Names" that come to mind.
As for ride quality, went out wheeling the other day with a good friend, he was commenting on how my ride has barely changed from stock, just feels like I am sitting up higher. IMO the ride gets a tad bit stiffer, but really not bad at all. I am running the Fabtech basic 6" lift.

So, I put the 3" spacer and add a leaf in a couple months ago... I hated it. I thought it looked horrible, rode horrible and the stress on the front end was extreme. So, I went the way I knew I should have and put the 4" Rancho on. Thanks alot Guys!
i did the 2.5 inch spacer on the front and then i took the stock blocks out from under the back and put some 3 inch blocks in. my ride has been fine with the spacers, added stress? ofcourse, i shreded one cv axle and also had to replace some ball joints, this is the sacrifice you make when you alter things like this without like someone said earlier going all and and making the modifications you should when actually doing a lift. as for the blocks on the rear end make sure they fit and they are the right ones for your truck. im a cheap sob so i just got mine from discount auto and they only sell the single stud blocks(or did at the time) and i said hey i can make this work, and it was fine till i realized the studs were wearing off and i could feel the motion in my rear end when i let off the gas. got rid of those and im gonna go with some add leafs to replace it because once again im a cheap bastard but it will make my truck look better

if you only want 3" a body lift is another idea. but it will run you $1000 if not more installed. unless you can find a shop who has never installed one on a 04-08 before. but your truck still won't be level so a leveling kit (2 ") would need to be installed as well. IDNC76 has a leveling kit and BL on his truck, looks really good

ya i got a 3" level kit on mine... nothing in the rear.... It squats in the rear about 1 1/4" Not terrible, but I should've gone with a 2" spacer. My ride quality is actually really good though. Im thinking about going to the bilsteins set at 2" in the front and replacing the rear shocks with bilsteins too. I would want to raise the back up some too, would a 3" block keep the "slightly modified ride" (b/c of the bilsteins)? or would it be rougher? I think the AAL with the bilsteins would ride like a 2 horse wagon. or maybe even a 1 horse for that matter.
