Steering Problem

I have a 2004 F-150 Lariat (55,000 miles) with all the options.
I am have a issue with the steering and was curious if anyone has had or have heard of this problem. Everytime i turn it the steering wheel about 6 inches theres a sticking problem as if the power steering pump is going out and sometimes when i turn it almost acts if i dont have much power steering at all. I had the pressure check in the pump and it checks out perfectly. I even had a ford dealership check the problem.. they were not sure what was going on. Someone mentioned that there are some u-bolts, u-joints or something like that in the steering column that make have went bad. Does anyone have any suggestions on what it may be?
Thanks
