6 inch lift on a 2007 4.6 Screw?

I'm 16 years old and I have a 2007 Xlt 4x4 Supercrew with a 4.6. It seems like theses days kids associate manhood with engine volume. My friends joke around about "slow" my truck is, but ignore them, proud to have such a nice truck at such a young age. I'm going to put either a pro comp or fabtech 6 inch lift on it and 35 inch toyo open countries. All my friends say that my 4.6 wouldn't work well with this set up...that my truck would be rediculously slow. Do you think the lift and tires would really slow my truck down and be too much for it? Anyone out there with this setup? And if this would slow it down, wouldn't a cold air intake and exhaust make up for it?

i have the 4.6 v8 and my truck wasn't slow at all. I have a k&n intake and banks exahust and that helped alot. Although i have my lift and tires so now its slow but it looks really good now. It is worth it for sure it doesn't really matter that its slow anyway because its a truck not a race car

Exactly my point...haha thanks for that, and how fast can you go until you get a speeding ticket anyway. It's not a Z 0 6 Corvette after all. Yeah I think the lift will make a world of difference. I'm really looking to it.

yea theres going to be some lag due to the tires but that can be fixed. re gearing, intake, exhaust, custom tuning, and stuff like that will help out alot when it comes to getting that bad boy moving dont forget to post pics when its all said and done!

gears will make up for the tires. performance mods will help with the sluggishness. intake, exhaust and tuner like said above an in addition, an efan setup. everything helps

Yep....I'll make sure to post some photos once she gets lifted. Think I should go with 951 moto metals? I'm thinking 18's on 35's.

That will look good! One thing I have learned (I am 19) is that speeding just isn't necessary. I have friends that all speed and turn it into a competition. That is actually why I bought a truck; to be slow. I got one speeding ticket for 19 over and that was such a PITA! Now I just let all my friends wiz by me and I get there when I get there. If your friends say your slow, go hell yea I'm slow b**ch! This coming for a motocross racer who can't keep the throttle anywhere but WOT! If you have an issue with speeding, put it on cruise control and take your foot away from the pedal. It helps!!!!!!! Don't be sad that you are slower, all the ladies will flock to your truck. Hell yea!

the 4.6 handles the big tires just fine. Like everyone said, regear and some custom tunes and your truck will be a blast to drive! I would bet that after regearing and custom tuning your truck would be "peppier" lifted then it did all stock! I know i have burned out and slung some pretty good rooster tails with my "little" 4.6 and 35" tires. I am plenty happy with it. Oh, and definately go with the Fabtech 6" lift. pro-comp gives you a huge spacer up front on their basic kit (looks bad.. its like a 4" spacer) plus Fabtech's front cross member and other equipment they provide just look much nicer. Just my opinion tho.

Oh, and congrats on the nice truck!

I have a 2006 XLT super cab with the 5.4L triton. My 6" ProComp lift and 35" ProComp mud terrains, combined with 3.55 rear gear ratios has made for a painfully slow truck. Bear in mind that my preception of speed is slightly scewed being that I race 600cc supersport motorcycles, and campaign a built-up Acura in local SCCA Solo-2 competitions, and NASA HPDE sponsered events.

In all reality, yes, there was a noticeable difference in acceleration between stock and lifted. I do, however, feel that re-gearing the differentials to a 4.56ratio will help to overcome the tires and lift. If you lift your truck, do it for you, and not for your friends... if you like it, do it!
