Add A Leaf lift

I've read several threads about trucks with add a leafs. I have a 97" Scab with 305/70/17 Buckshots with the torsion bars cranked enough to level the truck. The tires rub pretty hard on the frame and I'm sure other places at full turn. I probably need new leaf springs and/or shocks on the rear since my truck has 197,000 miles so I would like to get the add a leaf so I can raise it some and then I can crank the torsion bars again to level it up. What kind of add a leafs are on the market and do they supply enough lift to the rear to notice?

Autospring supplied mine. I'm not sure if they make em for the 97, but I'm sure they could find something that would work, or make it.

I asked for about 2.25" and ending up getting almost 3". It's slightly taller in the back, but it looks good I think. Once they settle completely I'm sure it'll level itself out again

Appreciate the info...I found the Pro Comps for $85.00 so if I put these on and crank my torsion bars some more I should gain enough lift to clear the rubbing issues with my tires and it should look better. What do you think?

JUst out of curiosity what makes you think that lifting the truck 1" will keep the tire from rubbing the frame? Isn't that a wheel offset issue?

Yea, that's a good question, but the tire is only hitting the frame in one small area so maybe the lift will cure this, if not I will get 1" spacers on the front to clear it. The thing that doesn't bother me about spending the money on the add a leaf is that I need new ones anyhow. Do you have any suggestions on this subject that might get me to the same place???

I have a BDS Add A Leaf on my 07 and it is nice. I think it gave me 1.5-2" total. The nice thing is the increased carrying capacity also.

I was told by some on here that they used the Procomp Add a Leaf which is about $85. I just found these Tuff Country Add a Leaf:

http://www.suspensionconnection.com/...tion/to=r.html

Couldn't get it to hyperlink so just copy and paste into thr url.
They are $30 cheaper and give the option of 2" or 3". If y'all haven't heard any cons on these I'll probably go with them instead.

Now that I look at these Tough Country's, I wonder why it goes 1973-1997. It should've stopped at 96' since they changed in 97'. You'de think the 1997 would go through 2003. If these are applicable for my 97' like it says then I'll probably get them. What you think?

I recently installed the Pro Comp add-a-leaf kit on my 03 and I gained an additional 2" of lift in the rear. Keep in mind my tires are a little smaller than your 305s (I'm running 285s), but here is a the add-a-leaf with cranked bars in the front.

I made the picture brighter so that whole tire is visible.

Keep in mind that most AAL's are much less than half an inch thick. You should have atleast an inch of thread on your factory u-bolts.
