approx average cost to replace lower front ball joint?

Just did my brakes all around on the truck, notices front left bearing unit is worn along with a lower front ball joint.

I see i can get the bearing unit for $180 in town or $100 online, ball joint is 15-20 depending on store.

I can do the bearing no problem, but the ball joint looks more involved. Can anyone tell me what to expect for labor charges to replace a ball joint up front.

2001 F150 XLT 4x4.

Talked to a local front in shop today 1-7-8

Talked with a local mechanic today about replacing the ball joints (both upper and lower) on my 97 F-150 extended cab 2wd. He quoted me a price of $371.00 for parts and labor. It was an estimate, so he did not break down what was parts cost and what was labor. Autozone has lower ball joints from about $20.00 to about $60.00 each. I found out at the next door front end shop, that only my lowers were needed, so that is why I have only looked up the cost of the lowers. I am trying to find out also what is a reasonable price, time requirement etc. for just the lowers.....

they quoted me $530 to replace lower ball joints and tie rod ends parts included. still seems a little high.

Cool Replaced lowers

Had both lowers replaced on 2001 4x4 with 107,00, miles for $327 at a garage in Dearborn Mi.

Watch the work. They accidentally riped the upper ball joint boots on re-instal. They fixed but I had to bring it back

All good though.

My warranty papers showed a cost of almost $800 for the dealership to replace all 4 of my ball joints and idler arm.

Wow, that's not a bad price I think. Does that include parts? I've been thinking at least 150 a joint plus parts. (750 plus parts for what you mentioned.)
