96 150XLT rear leaf springs Vin decode

Hi Gang

I've got a 96 f150 XLT with 302 and tow package. I need to put new springs in the rear as the last owner broke 2 leafs and replaced them with the wrong arch ones.

On my vin tag theres spring code LG. anyone have an idea on what rate spring this would be? I've looked around and there are 4 diffrent spring rate availible i know i'm going to go one stiffer as i'll be loading it with a elclosed trailer and it rides way to soft as it is now.

Thanks

Get the part number on your overload (fat bottom spring) and I can tell you the exact spring you have.

Finaly slid under it to grab the numbers cast in to the over load leaf
F5TAUA and RPN2905

There are 3 leafs plus the overload and the pack thickness is 1.570.

Thanks for the help

Showing the 4(3/1) system for 4x2 with 2-1/2" wide springs, measuring 25 x 32 and a 1655 lbs spring capacity which is actually the heaviest spring ford made in that particular measurement. To go heavier you'd have to either add a leaf or go to a 25 x 31 in which your shackle will compensate for the 1" loss on the back side and since the heavier springs are less arch it will actually end up being pretty close anyways despite the measurement. You would need to go to a HD spring to get more capacity and that would take you to 2450 lbs capacity per side or a total of 1590 lbs total extra capacity over your stock springs.

Thanks Joe!!

One web site said they were 1350lbs and i could not belive Ford would put that light of a spring on a truck with the trailer package.

Husky shows HUSKY SPRING Part # FLS159 {Sold Individually}
Rear; 2WD; 5/1=6Leaf, 2 5/8" Pack Thickness, 2450lb Per Spring Rating

HUSKY SPRING Part # FLS157 {Sold Individually}
Rear; 2WD; 4/1=5Leaf, 1 15/16" Pack Thickness, 1850lb Per Spring Rating

HUSKY SPRING Part # FLS155 {Sold Individually}
Rear; 2WD; 3/1=4Leaf, 1 9/16" Pack Thickness, 1350lb Per Spring Rating

As the truck is just my tow mule and trash hauler I'm thinking the 2450 would be a good fix

I'm going to talk with my local spring guy as soon as i can dig out the truck. Darn snow :santa: is gone so should this snow.
