looking for a lift

So now im looking into getting a lift for my 97 4x4. A 6" lift is a little more then i really need so i was wondering what 4" you would suggest. I seen one that rancho makes, how is it?
And when i get a lift im getting wheels at the same time. what kind of backspaceing should i be looking for??

if your only going to do a 4" might as well save the money and do a 3" body lift.

6" isnt that tall

i dont want a body lift. i need a little extra clearance to get around at work

From what I've heard, the 4" rancho is good. Also look into the 4.5" Superlift. Skyjacker makes a 3" suspension lift as well, but they aren't that good IMO.

I know you said that you don't want a Body Lift, but if money is tight you should consider this. You will be able to throw 35's on it and give yourself 2"-3" more clearance underneath with the bigger tires. I have been asked on several occasions what kind of suspension lift I have. I love that question. But as far as clearance goes, I've hit a lot of trails and even some monster sand dunes here is Michigan, and never had any clearance problems or bottomed out.

But I hear ya. If you are dead set against the Body Lift, look at Rancho or Superlifts...

I'd go with the 5 inch RCD or 6 inch Fabtech

why not consider a 6" fabtech? I put one on my 97 this summer. Its a nice kit and you can look at the pics in my gallery- its not that high. I wish now that I had gone bigger

how much backspaceing do you need with the rancho or RCD kits?

anyone have pics of 97-03 f150's with either the 4" rancho or superlifts kit. i can get the rancho for dirt dirt cheap but havent seen one on a f150 yet.

Most all aftermarket off road style wheels for the 97-03's have 4.5 or 5 inches of bs.

I agree i have a 6" fabtech on my truck. it isnt that big. There are pics in my gallery too. I kind of wish i would of gone bigger.
