Ladder Bars Almost Done

Well, after a ton of changes, this is what I have come up with. There are bushings in the ends of the bars... Tomorrow evening I plan on boxing the mounts on the axle.

whats the purpose for the ladder bars? are you running a hanger on both ends of the leaf spring? or ditching the leafs all together?

Pupose is to eliminate axle wrap, and nope, just bushings. I thouht about removing the front mount and putting in leaf spring style mounts, but am unsure....

oh the questions. lol

why did you choose that location for front mount?

have you considered using a heim joint / spherical rod end for the front mount so you can have some adjustability later on?

and holy hell your pinion angle!

lucky13: you talking shackles front and rear? why?
stealth: what do you mean pivot point? for articulation?

why, because coil overs are expensive. what i have seen people do is build a 4 link set up to hold the axle in place. then they run a shackle in the front and rear of the leave spring. with the 4 link in place, the axle isnt going to move in any direction its not supposed to do, therefor the leaf spring is doing nothing but supporting the weight of the truck, in the same way that a coil over would do on a 4 linked truck. the double shackle allows for more wheel travel and more axle twist while the 4 link controls the axle. long story short, its for people who want more wheel travel but cant afford to run coil overs. ive never tried it, ive only seen it and read about it and i thought thats what the OP was going for when i first saw the pics.

Ok, location was chosen to maintain the same angle as the driveshaft, which does have a high angle, which actually is right on.. It is past the pointed past directly at the tranny, which both have the same angles. This is theory this should not create any vibrations.....

As to the heim joint, I extensively researched it, but I was not confident in the juncture with the bars. It also would allow side to side movement, which I did not want. If it doesn't work, I can always switch to the heim. Adjustablity, that is the least of the concerns with a truck that high!!! I will cut and weld

even if the heim allows minor side movement... you didnt say you were eliminating your current leaf setup. which in my eyes should hold everything in place well. just my opinion

I appreciate your opinions.... That is the only way to advance. Anyhow, I have posted this pic before, but it is the only one I have of the truck, although it does not show the bars. I will try to get some more this weekend, and possibly a vid of it in action....

I appreciate the compliment. I am trying to get it up to "par"... It takes a ****load of time, especially when every single part has to be custom.
