Suspension Spacers?

Got a question about spacers...

I have a 6" Fabtech Lift on my truck... Could someone please explain the want/need for the spacers? How there installed? and which brand to get if i were to consider getting a set? This is my first truck so i am learning!

Thanks...

There are a couple of different "spacers". All are used to achieve another inch or so of lift. Tell us what truck you have and whether you are talking about the front or rear.

I have an 06 F150 XLT w/ 6" Fabtech...

3" Body Spacer?

I just assumed that it was a set of bushings or spacer that would be installed to raise the body off the frame... Not sure the whole process.. But that was my basic gist!

there are 2 types of spacers. suspension spacers and body spacers (known as a body lift) the suspension spacer (known as a leveling kit) pushes the spring and shock down lifting the front of the truck. a body lift, lifts the whole body up 2-3" depending on the kit. so in theory, with a 6" fabtech lift, a 3" "leveling kit" and a 3" body lift you can actually get 12" of lift on your truck. but if you want that big of a lift and have a 4x4 just go with a rize kit

Yeah, sounds like you are talking about a body lift.

body lifts are cool, but a PITA to install. they are really only for making room for bigger tires and looks. it wont make you any more off road capable than you are now
