weird response

I just called a ford dealership known for lifting trucks and was told they don't put 6" lifts on 07 F150s because of the fact it voids the warranty. They only put leveling kits and 4" lifts on them. I've seen lots of F150's with 6" lifts or more. The gentleman said this is new on the 07 models. Is this True? What have you heard and why?

I work for a local Ford dealership in the service department. He is full of BS. The only way they can void the warranty is if they can prove whatever 'failed' part is a direct result of the modification. True it might not help in trying to warranty a suspension component or whatever. Don't quote me on this but I don't see how they could deny warranty on say an engine repair, climate control, airbag system, etc. etc. just because the suspension is modified. Each individual dealer has the right to deny or make a warranty claim. My dealership, for example, we warranty everything!! It's money in our pockets - why turn away free warranty repairs?? Doesn't make sense to me. Only real way a dealership would get into trouble is if a local rep or field service engineer was in the area at the time and saw the repair going on. That might raise some red flags, or it might not. Depends upon the person I guess.

My advice - try another dealership if that is an option for you. Each one will be different.

the dealership is like that around me. they have two lifted trucks, a 6 inch and a 8 inch. but don't try and take it to get warrenty work on it. they sell these trucks lifted and will only cover them if they were sold lifted thru them.

That sounds rather shady to me.
