Not Again!

Not another torn half shaft boot! Yeah thats right there is grease all over my frame and wheel well again. I just had that replaced about 3k miles ago under warranty thanks to ford. But now what, I doubt they will warranty it again.
So I know that there others out there with my same setup, are you experiencing the same issues?
My truck is a 06 f150 fx4 with a 6" fabtech with 2.5 as on 37's.
Is pulling the lift out my only fix I hope not?!
Please help all posts appreciated.

post some pictures of your truck and the angles of your CV's.

what might help is pulling out that leveling kit and putting in a 2" instead of the 2.5". might make your angles that less dramatic and could help a little.

or ditch the hole idea of the spacer and get a body lift.

Every truck's suspension characteristics are different. I believe that you are having these problems because of that 2.5" spacer. Your components flat out may not be able to take those angles. Id say ditch the spacer and try it again.

Do you think the the 1/2 inch will make that much of a difference if so that is worth trying.

I agree. I think the spacer is the problem.

you may wanna try just half of the AS leveling kit. the 1.5" spacer that goes into your coilover, like what bud's got. it may still give you enough to clear the 37's.

I agree, I think a 2" spacer would help alot over the 2.5". I think I may end up taking mine off and do the body lift.

djh1121 how long have you been running your setup. I have been tearing the cv boots about every 1500 miles or show since I installed the spacers.
My understanding is that the cv angles are changed when a spacer is added and that a lift does not change the angle. Therefor if I am expirencing this problem, whether Im lifted or not then so should everyone else that has just the spacer kit...?

I put my money on the spacer.... ur angles are not good i bet. the lift its self shouldnt be doing anything to the boots did you check so see if any of its rubbing something. just an idea.

I have less then 1000 miles on mine. It's not my daily driver.

Let me ask you, are you tearing them without using/being in 4wd? If you are only using 2wd and tearing them then I'm

If you are in 4wd or off-road I could see if happening pretty fast. Let me know... I may stick a 2" spacer on to see how the angles look before I get the body lift.

I'm pretty much in 2wd most of the time. The last time I was even in 4wd was last winter up in the mountains snowmobiling.

Did the dealer do the replacement when you had the lift on it alrdy? If so, I would go after them again because Ford warranties repairs for 12 months/12k miles. If the did the repair once, they should have no ground to gripe about the lift.

I won't run mine in 4wd too much at these angles; I could see it ripping the boot pretty easy. I'm just a road warrior so I'm not worried about it for now. Someone needs to come out with a heavy duty CV axle for our trucks, like they use in the ATV world.

When I wear my stock upper ball-joints out I’m going to get a set of Camburg’s and hope I’ll have the BL on by then.

I just ordered new spacers from AS today. Those guys are so cool because they want give me credit for my 2.5 spacers for the new 1.5 spacers I ordered. Hopefully this fixes my problems.

What do you mean credit? Did you get the 1.5" free?

Let me know how it turns out... Post some pics.
