Donahoe replacement coilovers ???'s.

Hey all i was wondering about the Donahoe Racing coilovers. Since they replace the stock coilover and level out the truck do you think my angles up front will be to extreme? Do angles even effect the performance of 4 wheel drive? I am really confused guys help me out

It wont affect your 4x4 performance, instead its going to make your stock components wear out alot quicker than normal. Especially ball joints.

Don't scare him though, it's much better than a leveling kit.

How much faster would one say though? Ball Joints are prone to failure anyways no matter what they are in, if he has to put a set of joints in every 50k so what, that sounds like a fair traide. If it is every 10k, then we have a problem.

It's not going to be every 10,000 miles and thats for sure. Look at how many members we've got running around with 2" and 2.5" leveling kits, they're all fine. It all depends on how you drive the truck as well. I had a 2004 F150 with a Rancho kit and after 20,000 miles the ball joints were shot but I beat the hell out of that truck. I'd say 50,000 miles wouldn't be a bad guesstimate.

And when modding the geometry of the suspension, to me that sounds like an excellent deal when one considers the gain in performance and looks. Of course I am biased, my job requires the sale of aftermarket goodies.

Dang lets all jump on and scare him out of doing anything to his truck. I have DR coilovers and never had a problem, many guys will say you will run into Balljoint issues, but if you only crank them to a max of 2 inches for 4x4 you should be fine there are many guys here with 50k on their ball joints with a 2 inch kit. I think a leveling kit is one of the best things you can do for your truck that nose down sucks. DR ride really nice, you wont be dissapointed going this route but for a little more you can go kings, im wishing i would have now I have had a few issues with my DR mainly seals leaking, and there is nothing more gnar then blue coils.

Thanks a lot for all of the input guys. Much appreciated.
So the angles should not effect my 4x4 performance correct??Is there anything i can do to not effect the ball joints as much?
And hey extremeethan are the DR's worth the purchase or should i step it up to the kings?

You could get some Uniball UCAs like I did (pics tonight have to get the GFs camera) and it depends on what you want to do with the truck, the DR ride nice but I have have major seal problems and leaking shocks, also I want a rezzy like the kings have because i use my shocks and a rezzy is nice to have but again it depends on how you will use them. The DR should be fine but IMO the kings are better, or maybe even try camburgs coilovers. They have a package deal with new UCAs and a bolt in coilover. Thats the route I would go if I was just looking to level my truck as well as make it ride better. Check out Camburg.com

Also the camburg coilovers are only like 950 no 1100-1500 for kings or DRs but still just as good of a shock.

you can go with a uni-ball UCA. they are way stronger than OEM and can take more of an angle as well

How much does a set of uni-***** run if you dont mind me asking, I have a pretty serious angle on my upper control arms with my leveling shocks as high as they go. Are the ball joints replaceable on those? Grease zerks?

Get uni-***** and you wont have to worry about an angle, the uni-***** will take whatever you dish at them. I paid $750 for my Total Chaos's. Camburg's are cheaper so you may wanna go that route. Yes they have zerk fittings for teflon based grease only. and the arms & uni-***** are completely rebuildable.
