Leaf Spring Pack
Leaf Spring Pack
Anyone know of a company that has or custom makes complete rear leaf spring packs?? There used to be a popular place called National Spring, but I haven't seen anything on them in a long time??
Ever since I got my trailer, the rear end seems like it's starting to sag a little more and more with the trailer hooked up...progressively getting worse. Nothing horrible, but still noticeable. I don't want helper springs or add-a-leafs cause (from what I know...never used them personally) they will ruin the ride without the trailer hooked up.
Figure with a new, custom spring pack you can get a great ride, improved capacity, and achieve any desired lift without the need for blocks.
Thanks for any experience or insight.

Skyjacker makes 4" leaf packages, but i think thats more useful when your lifting your truck (maybe not, check them out)
You should get rear airbags man, they are great becuase when you have a heavier load, you can pump 'em up and you wont sag and it makes it stiffer in the back, but when your just driving around you can keep 'em somewhat deflated, so you dont lose the stock ride quality.

If you want stiffer springs to hold up the weight of a trailer tongue then the sacrifice is that the unladen ride is, well, stiffer. An add-a-leaf will give you that, the same as a custom spring pack. Stiffer is stiffer. In order to keep your soft factory ride but not sag when towing, you could use a weight distributing hitch. The other option is to install airbags. Regardless of which option you choose a high-end set of adjustable shocks will help considerably while towing.

There's really nothing you can do to your springs to help you carry a load and keep a great ride. There's always going to be a trade off of ride vs capacity. You're backwards on saying it will ride worse with the trailer on because an add a leaf will ride just like factory with the trailer on but when the trailer is off it will ride stiffer. Now, if you stick with a thinner gauge (around 323) and make it your new 2nd leaf due to the length the ride stiffness will be minimal and you will gain roughly 600 lbs capacity. If you're super **** and want the perfect ride all the time then look into air bags or timbrens.
I never said it would ride worse with the trailer on...or at least that's not what I meant. Also, I've been using a WDH since day one, but it seems to sag a little more and more each time. Guess I should just start shopping for air bags...can you guys point me somewhere?
just did a search and found a member with ride-rite airbags (these seem to be good ones, ive heard from several people) his name is fx4jake31 maybe send him a PM if you have questions. he has a rancho lift too.
