I heard some not so good reviews about the 3" lift by Sky. over extends cv's. The 2.5" Autospring Leveling kit and a 3" PA body lift would go good with those 35's. You may need to regear front/rear and a tuner to recalibrate trans. Costs around $2600+/-.

that kit is horrible do not get it!!!!!! it puts your CV joints and terrible angels and will wear out your ball joints in a secont! get a 2.5" auto spring you can fit 35x12.5 tires on it with stock wheels or wheels with close to stock backspacing.

you dont need to regear.... there isnt that big of a diferance between stock and a skinny 35" tire.

I ran the 3" SkyJacker for 70,000 miles. Wheeled here in Wisconsin as well as Moab. Never had any CV trouble. Still don't have any issues at 92,XXX miles, moved up to the 6" several months and 20,000 miles ago. Only issue I ever had with the 3" was the early shocks blew out - went through 2 sets of fronts, before they fixed the problem with them.

Everybody says with the 2.5" AS you get 3" of lift... the angles would be exactly the same as the SkyJacker, I had exactly 3" of lift. The better shocks and springs give you a better ride than stock as well, something a leveling kit won't do.

I actually like the 6" lift that much better. I prefer the ride and hey, the altitude is really SWEET!

My 3" Skyjacker also gave me exactly 3" of lift while a 2.5" AS in the same truck gave me close to 3.2" of lift.

There are some pics in my gallery.. Look at the red 2005 FX4. Both lifts are in there, just look for the red shock up front. Other than than the truck looked exactly the same.

I don't, it's a company truck and we changed the company name (from DualComp to DualLiner) so I got rid of all the old stuff. They'll be the same as the angle with the 2.5" AS - nobody seems to be afraid of them, but I guess because the SkyJacker is a 3" (even though the lift height is the same) the angles are "terrible".

The advantage (IMO) of the lift over the AS is that you get better shock valving and springs. The ride and suspension travel are improved (all up travel), where the AS is stock ride and suspension travel.

The complaints I have heard (from people that never had the lift) is price ("you get the same lift for less with the AS") and CV angles (same as the 2.5" AS that no one complains about).

Now, if you look at the cost of shocks, springs, and AALs, the kit price is fine. If you compare it to AS (apples and oranges) it's expensive.

Wish I had the old pics for you, the truck looked sweet! I am even happier with the 6" lift, I like being "that big truck"!

Thanks for setting me straight on this issue fellas. I really wanted the skyjacker lift, but then heard a bunch of bad things from the other guys on here, all of whom hyped the AS leveling kit. I wanted the skyjacker for the exact reason you mentioned. I DONT want to retain factory ride. I wanted better springs, better shocks. the price was of no worry to me. Thanks for the input. Although now I am leaning towards either the superlift 4.5 or the rancho 4". But thanks anyway, now I wont be afraid to consider the skyjacker.
p.s. hmfic, trucks look GREAT!!

One thing that you always see on any subject is guys responding "I have... and it's the greatest." Some are credible, some are not. Some pump up their product, other bash the one the didn't buy.

As I said, the angles are the same as the 2.5" AS. Because of that, it hurts the credibility on anyone that says the CV angles are too harsh, buy the AS. Sad, but true.

If I don't have it, it's not any good! LOL

Good call Bryndon... very true. Personally I don't care for leveling kits in general, but if I was going to recommend one that provides in the ball park of 3" of actual lift it would definitely be the Skyjacker over a spacer style.

What about the Kings?

I don't have them but I can say they're smashing the Skyjacker 3" kit. Add a little add-a-leaf to the rear, no problems.

Hey Thumper! You are very right, lots of ways to skin a 3" lift, SkyJacker's kit is the only kit option (that I know of). But yes, expensive coilovers is a definite alternative as well. 3" of lift without moving brackets will always give you the same angles on the CVs.
