will someone tell me the purpose of removing the radiator and air intake before installation

You don't need to remove the radiator, but the air intake is connected to the engine and the body, so it needs to be removed.

 

the intake needs to be removed too turn it and point it up towards the air filter, you'll see after the lift is on what I mean.

there is no need to remove the radiator, I was able to reach down while my Dremel and a pain of tin-smips to trim the tabs off the fan shroud.
