Supercrew Shocks

I've noticed on some Supercrews the right rear shock is mounted facing forward and on others they are both facing towards the rear. It looks like it can be mounted either way. Why? Maybe to clear the exhaust. My new schocks would barely reach the right upper mounting hole.

THe stock mounting position is one facing forward. THis is supposed to help with wheelhop. A lot of people with lifted trucks and nice shocks mount them with both facing rearward for looks. However, the exhaust can interfer with this.
