2.5 leveling kit and CV angles

Whats up, just want to no if anyone thinks these leveling kits (particularly 2.5) will prematurely wear the CV joints? Has anybody had this issue with any leveling kit? Would like to take the budget route to lifting my truck but do not want to spend more in the long run by purchasing new CV joints, when i could just fork it out now and get the real deal. Also does the leveling kit take away from shock stroke travel? Thanks.

onekind503,

I have the 2.5" AS. I think I got more than 2.5 inches out of the lift. I had it installed in January and in May the passenger side CV boot tore and axle grease was everywhere. The dealership replaced the entire CV axle under warranty. Then in July, the driverside boot tore. The dealership again replaced it under warranty but this time the tech said something about the CV axle angles. They said if it happened again, they didn't know if they could cover it. I think if I had to do it all over, I would have gone with the 2". I too was looking for the cheap lift. Now I would like to save up and get the Superlift 4.5" lift kit. As for the shock stroke travel, I think it does. My ride is good, but it is not as smooth as stock.

Thats what I was concerned about. I wonder if the 2" would be a safer bet? So you are considering the superlift? Do you know anyone who has one? I am open for any lift suggestions right now. I am kind of worried about parking garages and gas mileage but I guess it would look good to have your standard 4 or 6 inch lift.

onekind503,

05blackf150 has the superlift. Check out his gallery. https://www.f150online.com/galleries....cfm?gnum=7975 I have also provide a link to the video on the superlift site. I gives a very good explanation of the life and how it's installed. It's a sweet looking lift kit. After I watched the video I was sold. A lot of guys on this site also have the 6" Fabtech.

I've been running the AS 2.5" for over 1 year. No problems at all. Angles are not as severe as I thought they'd be. As for ride quality? I think it's still fine! I have not noticed and difference at all. I actually had my local Ford dealer install my kit about 3 weeks after I bought my truck new from them.

i put a 2" levelling kit on my bros 04 and we stuffed some 35 x 12.5 R17 in there and after the wheel alignment they rub a slight bit but nothing to noticeable...and the CV axles are fine...just a lil past straight...

we put some Pro Comp X-Terrains on....35x12.5 17...and when i say they rubbed very minimal...i mean they dont rub unless u go that extra little bit or turn when u can hear the pump begin to whine cuz it cant go any further....other than that no rubbing!...
