Looking Into a Body Lift

Have a few questions about a body lift and have read my self silly. from what i gather a 33 will fit on the 97-03 trucks stock with Torsion crank. If this is the case can i run a 35x12.50 on my 17" factory wheels with a 3" body lift? only makes since. But here is the problem the 6" lift calls for 35's now is this for axel limits? or can you really only fit a 35 with a 6" lift i plan on lifting more later probably go with a 4 or 6" in a year or so. I'm trying to figure what would give the best stance with 3" body lift. i also plan on running some 17x9 in wheels later down the road with lift is installed.

Thanks,
Flex

Alright, you can fit 35x12.5's on your truck with a 3inch body lift. You will only have to trim the lower valance. Personally i would get some 16x10 wheels. Alot of guys go down in size because of better selection and cheaper prices. A torsion crank would be good to get some extra clearence and you would need to look into some new shocks. I got skyjacker hydro 7000 series shocks and they helped alot. 3" body lifts and 35's give you a real mean stance.

RIght, you can fit 35's with a 3 inch body lift, but it's very tight. You are right about considering the big picture and your future plans for the truck. I would suggest going with a 10 inch wide wheel, whether you go with 17's or any other size. If you do add a suspension lift later, you will want large tires and 10 inch wide wheels give a good stance and a lot of tire size options on the 97-03's.

Also, I recommend the Performance Accessories 3" Body Lift, best on the market and priced really good. I would pick up Gap Guards as well, and if you are going to be doing the install yourself then check out my gallery. I have an entire photo album devoted to the install process with descriptions.

I've installed 2 BL's, one on a Scab and one on my Screw. Not too difficult, just take a lot of time. I picked both of them up from this place, which had about the best price I could find and also had free shipping (not sure if they still have that or not).

I see theres a few guys with 03 fx4's(as is mine) that have body lifts. how do you like them? Is there a huge gas milage loss? Also, Im an avid hunter and I tow my enclosed trailer long distances and my 18' war eagle boat...does it make towing harder? Also, since its a body lift can you see all sorts of crap in/around the tires or is it pretty clean? If you could go into detail with your thoughts I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

A body lift does not affect towing, other than you can't use the bumper once you raise it. If you install Gap Guards, it really cleans up the looks. Take a look through my gallary.

Agreed, and if you wanna save some cash you can get some 1/4inch rubber and cut it yourself to make your own gap guards. Got mine for $30 at rural king and cut it myself. Looks just as good.
