Question Cranking Torsion Bars

I have a 2001 F150 5.4L V8 Lariat Supercab. If I crank my torsion bars to level out my truck, will that put any pressure on the ball joint?

The increse in angle will increse wear slightly, but I dout it is enough to matter over the life of the truck.

Good luck cranking them. Mine wouldn't budge for the life of me so I gave up on those things. Waiting to get a RCD suspension lift.

A friend of mine took his 2001Supercrew to the shop after I told him about having his torsion bars cranked to level him out, and they told him his truck doesn't have torsion bars, but springs. I told him I read on this forum that it could be done on his year model. I called the local Ford dealershop and they told me the same thing? What's the deal?? Does the 2001 have torsion bars or not, and he said he saw his springs by the way. Maybe it has both Anyway, I made him look like a D.A. when he took it to the shop.

the amount of additional stress applied by cracnking up the factory tosion bars is probably not significant, but i think aftermarker keys put enough additional stress on the components that it does/will matter over the life of the vehicle. i don't see how adding a leaf is going to negatively affect things.

don't the 01s have torsion bars? thought that was the standard setup after 96???

Maybe this is a dumb question, but I just went onto a 2001 F150 spec site and it said I had torsion springs. what r torsion springs?

If I'm correct someone can correct me if I'm wrong, 4x4's have torsion bars and 4x2's have coils. I THINK

u can achieve more lift by using a GMC 1500 torsion key and thats what my shop is doing to mine on sat., and the 01 have torsion bars/torsion springs, same thing.

Right, 4x4's have torsion bars, 4x2's have coil springs. I'd stay away from different torsion bar keys.
