Smile Rancho Lift & Weld Wheels Installed

Well I finally got my lift kit new weld rims installed. Interesting tale relative to the Rancho lift kit. I was originally going with the Superlift 4.5" but after finding out that the factory wheels only work if you have 18" rims and since I have a 17" spare I would have to upgrade to an 18" wheel and since I have a limited slip rear end I would need to upgrade the spare tire to a 35" to match the rest (my current 17" spare has a 35") long story for basically saying I was going to have to spend some $$ to have a viable spare. So I decide to switch gears and spend alittle extra $$ to get the Rancho 4inch lift since it states that it will work with factory wheels. So I got the Rancho lift installed and then when I go to pick it up the tech who did the install says hey, you do know that you can't use factory 17" wheels on this lift after looking at my spare....I'm like you have to be kidding me ~ we called rancho and sure enough the statement 'works with factory wheels' only applies to 18inch or above....anyway atleast they cut me a really good deal on a 17inch aftermarket rim with 4.5 of backspace. Outside of the spare fiasco everything else when well..... let me know what you think (the wheels are Weld Cheyenne 6 17 x 8.5 with 4.5 of backspace):

Thanks for the compliments! The long story short is that for Rancho and Superlift you can use 18" or above factory wheels (and spares) but that for 17" you have to get with aftermarket wheels with less backspace (I went with 4.5" for wheels including the spare) to clear the tie rods. The next time I do a lift, I will always call the manufacturer directly before I do anything ~ live and learn I guess

Truck looks good. I sure do like the look of the 35's over my 33's.
