New shocks, Install?
Hey guys i was under my truck the other day to find that my shocks are getting rusted out. Being that i have always wanted some nice shocks and never gotten around to buying some i am taking this oppurtunity to do so. Im buying so Pro comp es 9000 and was looking for a little help as to how difficult the install is on aftermarket shocks. I have a 3 inch body lift and i dont know that that will affect anything. If I have limited knowledge and a jack and simple hand tools will me and my dad be able to tackle this in a day without having to pay someone else to do it? I dont have a shock compressor either, ho[ping for some good news thanks in advance

I've installed 2 sets of shcoks (both Bilsteins) on 2 different F150's with body lifts. The body lift has no effect on the install process.
We didn't use any special tools other than an impact wrench (which wasn't needed but makes the job go faster). You should be good with hand tools. They aren't that difficult. I would PB blast the bolts a couple of days before hand to loosen them up. You will need to compress them some how which can be tricky but managable. We used a pry bar strategically positioned for the fronts and brute force on the backs. If you can't get the backs on, try inserting the top of the shock first and even get a floor jack on the bottom to compress it, then slide it into place. I think I did that on one of the rears but I can't remember. You guys should be able to knock it out though.
