Any time you crank up the preload on the torsion bars you increase the angle of the CV and ball joints. Of course this increases wear and tear. But so does installing larger tires and wider wheels. So does offroading your truck. The same goes for towing/hauling increasing wear and tear on the engine and drivetrain. Everthing has to be done within reason.
Crank your torsion bars. You don't have to do it that much though to get a leveled look. I cranked mine just enough to clear 35s on a 3" body lift so there was no rubbing. The front still sat a little lower, so I took off the bottom air valance. It looks level and I didn't have to crank the torsion bars too much, to decrease wear and tear.
Also, you should be able to crank your torsion bars on your own, they're pretty easy. Good luck

Yes, 16s will clear the brake rotors on on the older style trucks like ours. I'm running 16s with 35s (well 315/75/16s with no rubbing). I would ask Wandell about making sure you have the correct backspacing though, I don't know too much about that.I'm going to throw a set of ATs on my FX4 stock rims and probably run them in the winter time here in Michigan.
Let me know if you have any other questions, I can try to answer them to the best of my ability.
