Another leveling kit question.

I am shopping around for a leveling kit and have found one's with welded studs and some with pressed studs. I've always felt more comfortable with welded over pressed but I was wondering if it mattered. Thanks.

A local tuck specialty shop around here quoted me approx. $500 installed for a 2" leveling kit...either tuff country or Skyjacker. These are the 2 brands they carry and they will not install kits you bring in on your own. Is $500 too high for this and can a regular tire / brake shop or body shop do this cheaper?

Why dont you do it yourself? Me and my dad (well me while he watched and drank beer) did ours (his truck) in our driveway with a floorjack and jackstands, pretty easy and I have very little mechanical experience (im a 16 year old kid).

What about strut compressor, did you have one of those? How long did it take you?

AS kit is an easy install. Shouldn`t take more than 2 hr`s. No need for a spring compressor. check out autospringcorp.com and pull up the instruction for more info.

What size leveling kit did you put in and did the truck sit level? Did you write down the before and after measurements from the ground to the top of the wheel arch. I'm just wondering as i have a 2.5 inch leveling kit but i have not installed yet because of the posts about it ending up 3 inch in lift and also the severe angles on the upper arm and drive shafts.

Thanks.

not to hijack your post, but i was thinking about doing an AS 2" front kit and then the 3" rear block for my 04 4x4...my questions are: is this an easy install? should i go 2.5" in the front instead of 2"? will i need bigger shocks for the rear with the 3" block?

The AS is extremely easy to install and should only take about 45 min to an hour. you will need ahdn tools and maybe some air tools, depends on how the codition of the bolts are. 500 is way to high and just plain funny. Somebody is really trying to rip you off on that one. Just go AS and you will be happy.
