Tryin to help dad

My dad has a 2003 F150 that he would like to lift a little. Not a whole lot, but maybe 3" or 4" at most. I don't know anything about lifts for the older body styles so hoping some on the board can give me a little advice. He's not made of money so looking for the best lift for the lowest cost for him. He also wants to slap some 33's up under there once it's lifted.

I have heard of cranking the torsion bars, but I don't know anything about how to do this or what years it's even possible on. Please help me out so I can help him out. I have told him about this board and as soon as he moves into his new place and gets his internet back up and running he's joining up. Thanks in advance.

Crank the torsion bars, 33's with stock or aftermarket rims will work.

On my 01 I took it to a shop, asked them to crank them for me. Took about 15 min. and the guy charged me 10$

I agree. If he wants a lift, I'd suggest the Rancho 4 inch, RCD 5 inch or Fabtech 6 inch lifts.

Thanks guys, I'm going to look into the Rancho 4" lift for him. For aftermarket wheels & tires what is the best suggestion as far as BS? Thanks

4.5" or 4 5/8" is what you would want for wheel backspace.

I agree. Also, with the 4 inch Rancho, I'd go with a 35x12.50 tire and a 10 inch wide wheel.

Thanks again, gonna start pricing a few items and see what I can get. He really liked my Helo Maxx 6 wheels so may see if I can find'em for his truck.
