Minimum Lift Req'd for 37s

I'm sure this question has been asked and answered many time, but searching for 37's came back with no results.

What is the minimum amount of lift needed to be able to run 37's?

I have an '04 FX4 scab.

I've seen some pics/posts of 6" Suspension Lifts + 3" Body Lifts with 37's. Also, I'm assuming a Rize 8" Lift would also work.

I guess my real question is what is the cheapest way to get 37's under my truck?

6 inch pro comp + 3 inch body lift is the cheapest way. It looks great and will have no rubbing with 37's. Search "theanimals" gallery for pics.

I would say the 6" suspension + 3" body lift would be the cheapest way also. I was going to go this route with 6" fabtech + 3" body lift, but ended up getting the 8" rize, and I like it so far. Just need to level it out.

If you are wanting 37's from the start, go ahead and get the 8 inch Rize lift. Most people tend to want to go bigger and biggers. So, if you already want 37's, that 8 inch Rize lift will allow you to go to 38's or 40's in the future with a body lift.

i have seen people with a 6in fabtech with 37 but im sure the rub like crazy unless you add a spacer which would give you 8. but i went with rize and live it. i parked next to a guy with a 6in procomp 3in body on 37 and sat the same

WIth a 6" SkyJacker (full 6" lift up front) I had rubbing with 37 x 13.5s on 9" wide DC-1s. Depending on your wheel offset, wheel width, and if you want a 12.5 or 13.5, will depend. I had to flatten the body seam at the back of the wheelwell and clip the lower valance (under the bumper). I doubt that at partial turn I would clear completely.

So, think about the following:

Your usage? Heavy off roading requires more room than a blvd cruiser.
Your wheel - width and offset?
Your tire width?

If you plan to wheel, do yourself a big favor and go with at least 8" of lift, no matter how you get there. I still have modifying to do and may still downsize to a 35" for wheeling clearance.

Graham - That is a sweet looking setup! Have you been running that setup long and have you had any problems? Any rubbing?

I've been ridin' on the roks since October 2006 and they are radials. The radials last alot longer than bias and seem to have a more defined shape. I admit that they do rub like crazy off-road, but cruisin down the highway and in the city you can turn those bitches all the way in any direction. Don't get me wrong, I had to do some trimming on the front wheelwells, but it was worth it. Thanks for the props guys. PS. they hummm on the road like a Ford should!
