I had the Xterrains on my last truck (S-10 with a SFA) and were a very good tire in my opinion. They were loud on the road, but that is expected, and they drove good too. And you would be very happy with them in the mud

I have the Xterrains on mine right now. 35x 13.50x 18
I love them! They look awesome, have done well in the mud, And I don't think they are loud at all on the road! Not any louder if a little than the stock tires I had.
I'm about to find out how they do in the sand in a matter of hours, heading to the dunes!!

Xtrerrains were possibly the worst tire I have ever owned...IMO....they wore FAST and were not even as good as my SSR's in the mud....

I know a guy running the xtrerrains on his jeep and he likes them, I personally run pro comp extremes a/t. Very good on the highway and clean out real nice in the mud. Still nothing beats an all out mudder but not too many people keep two sets on hand.
